Guys: Would you get pregnant?

Yep, what you're seeing is real. Oprah Winfrey is on her show, rubbing the belly of a man. A pregnant man.

The guy used to be a girl, until he legally changed his gender. He had his breasts removed, but kept his female sex organs for this very reason: in case he decided to have a baby. (If you're wondering, and you probably are, his wife had a hysterectomy and they used an anonymous sperm donor.)

I ... wow.

It's fascinating that this man decided to live as a man, but still wanted to experience something that is inherently female -- the act of giving birth. Think about it: the idea is mainly shocking because of biology. Women are built to have babies and men aren't.

But what if pregnancy and childbirth weren't limited to the female sex? You never know, one day it might not be.

Guys, if you could get pregnant and have a baby, would you do it?

I'm already fat enough.

This is overhyped! Even though he or she has legally changed their gender they still have capacity to have children. I dont see why this is news!

I would, just so when my wife says "you don't know pain until you give birth" I can say "been there, done that. Not get back to washing the dishes"

I don't see why this is such a big deal. It's a woman who's pregnant. You can call her a man all you like but if there is no penis, then it's just a woman acting like a man and that isn't a big news story.

Why do people insist that this woman is a "man?"

What defines a man as a man and a woman as a woman? Clearly, she has the reproductive organs of a woman, she is a woman. Just because she modified her body (removed her breasts) and took testosterone to grow a thin bit of facial hair does not make her a man. Her DNA is still female, she still has female reproductive organs, her body still produces estrogen naturally.

SHE is still a woman. Wonder of wonders, a woman got pregnant! Why is this news?

To answer the question: No, I would not get pregnant, because I can't. My body is not equipped to do so and forcing our bodies to do something they weren't designed to do is asking for trouble. You could be doing yourself or the baby harm that might not show up right away.

I can't fly either... and that's ok, I'll get over it.

Maybe, but only if it meant that I could go on Oprah, get a lot of attention, and start my own freak show.

I watched my wife go through 3 pregnancies. I do not recall any instance where I sat there and thought, "Wow - I would like to experience that". You could not pay me to go through 9 months of joy and hell.

By the way, I agree with some of the other comments in regards to this being news. This is a pregnant woman trying to have a child. It just happens to be a woman who wants to be a man.

Ok, but the question is, if a man could get pregnant, would he be willing to. As a woman, I don't think I could deal with my boyfriend/husband being whiny and emotional all the time. I'll save that suffering for me... so he can deal with it.

heck naw... if man was meant to bare child, we'd be born as hermaphrodites

It's still a female; breast removal does not a man make. Look at the publicity it's getting.

I wouldn't get my wife pregnant--so why in tarnation would I go through it myself?!

Yeah, I don't get the big deal on this. This is a woman having a baby. Happens every day. Besides, I lost all respect for Oprah after that James Frey debacle.

It's amazing this got any air time at all. Not only is this "guy" not a guy, I'm amazed "he" was able to find someone desperate enough to want six with "him".

Let's face it: it's just an ugly chick with facial hair and no boobs. I had a teacher in 6th grade who was the same way.

Ack!!! I can't type. "Sex"; not "six"

Why are we waising our time talking about this. This was a woman, men can not reproduce. If you dont know this no wonder why our country is screwed up. We should be talking about how we get all those jobs back from over seas

If I could, I would ... but not at my age! (Don't ask ...)

absolutely not. this whole story is a bunch of feces.

So he's not reallllly a he, huh?

I do agree with everyone's comments, this really is a woman. But that was not the question asked. Being a mother of two, I would not like to see my husband going through pregnancy or child birth. Even though my husband was in agony seeing me go through what I was, he would still NEVER take my place doing it!
